The Harvestman Hertz Donut

Dual digital oscillator with internal modulation bus. Voltage-controlled waveform discontinuity, internal pitch tracking with several lag settings. Dedicated square wave outputs, and a multi-purpose gate/XOR ringmod output.

specifications

Primary oscillator:

• 16Hz-16kHz frequency range
• Waveform output (switchable between saw, tri and sine, 12-bit resolution)
• Waveform discontinuity modulation/PWM
• Variable square wave output
• Hard digital synchronization input
• External FM input switchable between expo and linear thru-zero

Modulation oscillator:
• Sine, tri or saw waveform
• Independent square wave output
• Selectable modulation frequency range (normal [same as primary osc] and s l o w)
• Hard digital synchronization input
• External FM input switchable between expo and linear thru-zero

Oscillator output internally patchable to main oscillator frequency (linear, thru-zero), amplitude, or discontinuity
Internal modulation index voltage-controllable
Variable-lag pitch tracking of primary oscillator
General-purpose gate output for monitoring internal tracking status...

Compatible with Livewire X-Mod Controller expansion.

•+/-12V Doepfer-style power connector

Recensioner
If you think this Little fellow sounds like a typical virtual analogue synth oscillator, you totaly got the wrong idea. This one is very far away from the polished silkyness of VA-osc's. It has tons of attitude, even when it comes to just the simple waveforms.

And then again, being a (or two) VA-oscillator(s) isn't it's main purpose, even thou it's possible to use it that way. It's main area and strength is deffenitly in the modulation domains. Especialy the internal Through zero FM.
The waveshaping capabilities are somewhat limeted, But still useful. I realy like when modulated in audiorate.

In the higher frequensies aliasing and other digital arifacts start to occur giving the HD a bit of a gritty character. This is intetional to give it some dirtyness. And many see that as an interesting and useful feature.

It is a very dynamic and verstile VCO and you will probably continue to get new tricks out of it for a long time, given that you feel comfortable with it's dirty side as well.

I would say this is lika Buchlas angrier and dirtier little cousin. Because the character of the sound has some buchaish DNA for shure.
